I am watching the official LDS church website, waiting for them to finish their media section. They have started adding pictures, but they do not list the pictures from the primary manuals, and they no longer list the pictures from the Gospel Art Kit. The Gospel Art Kit can no longer be purchased, which is a source of great sorrow to everyone working in our Primary. The church's website does have the library start up kit pictures listed, as well as the pictures from the Gospel Art Book. However, the reason I built this site was to categorize all the primary manual pictures, which are very useful for many other lessons then the ones they are linked too. I guess I will be leaving this site exist for a while yet.

Thank you for this web site and blog. I was just called to Librarian at our stake center and have been reorganizing the library and updating it. I was having trouble with all the pictures and all the numbers on the backs left by someone else after they were mounted on mat board. Your numbering system with all the numbers will greatly help me update our library. Thank you again!

You're welcome!
I have a question...our building opened in 2005, the large pictures in the library were never mounted on mat board. Your comment brought this fact to my mind. Any ideas if we should be mounting the pictures onto mat board? Our pictures, though only 5years old, are being to get the "used" look around the edges. Mat board would protect the picture. However, i wonder if it is just as inexpensive to simply replace ratty pictures. ?

Thank you so much for this site. I just found it and it is SO valuable for helping get our inventory done.

I would say laminate the pictures or replace them. I am having a hard time with the mat board being heavy when you get a lot of pictures and also I am having to put the information on the back since the mat board covers all this up. We have a few laminated pictures that are newer and this looks nice. A lot of my mat board pictures date back to the 70's and 80's. I am still trying to figure out what to do with the super old pictures that are out of date.

Thank you for your suggestions Chandelle; it helped me realize that many of the pictures do have not only their number but scriptures listed and a summary of them. Therefore, mat board is now out of the equation. Your suggestion of laminating if possible or simply replacing sounds like the best thing to do.
Decades ago when I was the meetinghouse librarian in another city the guidelines were to remove any pictures (and items) that were not listed in the church distribution catalogue. I guess that helps to remove pictures that have become outdated or have since been updated. I WISH that all the pictures offered in the Primary manuals were offered in the 11 x 17 size. If you have some of the older pictures, I would check to see if the primary is still using the picture with it's manuals. HOwever, that idea is mine, and not church policy, so maybe I shouldn't even suggest it.
